Biden moving COVID-19 vaccine eligibility date to April 19

U.S. President Joe Biden stands to deliver his remarks on the tradition of Easter next to first lady Jill Biden holding a flower and a person wearing an Easter Bunny costume at the Blue Room Balcony of the White House in Washington

With states gradually expanding eligibility beyond such priority groups as older people and essential, front-line workers, the president plans to announce that every adult in the USA will be eligible by April 19 to be vaccinated, the official said.

Biden set to announce on Tuesday that all USA adults will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine by April 19.

Biden is set to tour a vaccination site in Virginia on Tuesday before giving his speech at 3:45 pm while Vice President Kamala Harris will visit a labor union-run vaccine site in Chicago forged as a collaboration between the city of Chicago and the Chicago Federation of Labor. He thanked everyone for administering the shots and for showing up to receive them.

Psaki said Biden was only "answering a direct question during an interview with ESPN" when he indicated on Wednesday that he would "strongly support" moving the July 13 game because of a law he described as "Jim Crow on steroids". "Get the vaccination when you can".

"We share the sentiments of Pope Francis who said that getting vaccinated is a moral obligation, one that can save your life and the lives of others", the President said in a video posted on his Twitter account. He acknowledged that the new strains are more virulent and more unsafe, but said "the vaccines work on all of them".

Previously, Biden said he "will not make that happen" when asked about canceling up to $50,000 at a CNN town hall in February.

Jordanian FM Accuses Prince Hamzah of Plotting to Destabilize the Country
The US State Department said on Saturday that King Abdullah is a "key partner" of the US. The pair were detained for "security reasons", Petra said, quoting a security source.

"It reduces confusion and it ensures that Americans who are not yet vaccinated, who are looking to get vaccinated, they know they are all eligible, all adults, I should say, on April 19", she said.

Biden's original goal had been 100 million shots in arms by the end of his first 100 days. Biden is also set to announce that among Americans 65 and older, 75% have received at least one vaccine dose and over half have been fully vaccinated. Providers have administered three million vaccine daily doses on average over the past week, according to The New York Times.

At least a dozen states opened eligibility to anyone 16 and older on Monday alone, while New Jersey and OR announced this week that all residents 16 and older will become eligible on April 19.

But eligibility isn't the same as actually being vaccinated. People still have to make appointments to be vaccinated. "We may be able to get together with some of them this Easter", he said during a conference call with faith leaders on Friday morning. "The lines are going to become longer".

Biden's Department of Education has already moved to cancel billions in student debt, but in his messaging, the president has been more willing to go big on the economy writ-large rather than satisfying the urge from his left to do the same on student loan reforms.
