COVID-19 vaccination appointments

100,000 doses of Sinopharm coronavirus vaccine arrive in Georgia

The state has the highest level of coronavirus cases per 100,000 people in the U.S. after MI over the last seven days, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

People are asked to wait until their age cohort is eligible before registering for a vaccine and getting a confirmation code.

Indigenous people over the age of 18, and people who have received letters saying they are clinically extremely vulnerable, can also book online by going to the B.C. government's Get Vaccinated website here.

"Every vaccine delivered makes all of us safer", provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry said in a news release.

Online immunization appointments in B.C. can be booked online as of tomorrow morning.

Mixed messages on travel from CDC
They should stay home and self-quarantine for 7 days after travel or 10 days if they don't get tested at the conclusion of travel. The airline group praised the CDC's "updated travel guidance" that eases "travel restrictions for fully vaccinated individuals".

The online registration system for vaccinations was supposed to open April 12, but Premier John Horgan said in a news release that the earlier launch marks a "major milestone" in B.C.'s fight against COVID-19. A list of participating pharmacies can be found here. Fraser Health was the only authority that had an online booking platform at the time.

Health officials are hoping to avoid the glitches seen with the vaccine telephone booking system which faced huge call backlogs and technical problems when it launched March 8.

The province is also launching a single call centre, rather than having individual ones available for each health authority.

The news comes as case numbers spike in B.C., with a record-high daily total on Saturday of 1,072 new infections and an outbreak on the Vancouver Canucks hockey team. Everyone becomes eligible for appointments April 19.

Canada is set to receive more than two million doses of vaccines this week as the country scrambles to contain the wildfire spread of more contagious variants of the COVID-19 virus.
