Cloudy to begin with in some places, but sunny spells will develop through the day. Highest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees.
"Easter Sunday will start dry with sunshine for most and whilst southern areas will continue to enjoy a dry and bright day, a cold front will introduce cloud and rain across the northern half of the country through the afternoon - it's this cold front that opens the gates to very cold air from the Arctic from Easter Sunday night and through much of next week", he says.
"Overnight most areas will become dry and clear, but wintry showers will persist in the north and northwest", said Met Éireann.
Met Éireann has warned that despite the fact that temperatures are set to reach 19 degrees in some parts of the country today, we could also be in line for some snow over the Easter weekend. "There will be a mix of clear spells and scattered wintry showers, mainly in the north and west and lowest temperatures of minus 2C to 2C", she added.
It is forecast to remain dry, accompanied by sunny spells throughout the day, according to the Met Office. Highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees, again coolest along the north and east coast due to a light north to northeast breeze. Some patches of mist and fog will develop.
Australia investigates possible link of blood clot case to AstraZeneca vaccine
The European Union's medicines regulator has also recommended that countries continue to use the AstraZeneca vaccine. Germany restricted the use of the shot to people over 60 years of age, France has limited its use to those over 55.
The end of the bank holiday weekend will herald colder weather, however, with the Met Office forecasting bands of cold Arctic air moving across the United Kingdom from the north west by Sunday, bringing snow showers and freezing overnight temperatures.
"Afternoon temperatures will range from 8C to 13C but it will gradually become much colder from the northwest during the evening, so some falls of sleet will be possible in Ulster".
However, it will not last the forecast through Easter with change to colder conditions starting on Sunday. Some wintry showers may develop overnight on north facing coasts. Lowest temperatures of -2 to +2 degrees with fresh to strong and gusty northerly winds.
"The cold airmass will introduce the chance of wintry showers of hail, sleet and snow on Easter Monday and Easter Tuesday, with temperatures limited to around 3 to 7".
