Two police officers have been injured at the US Capitol after a auto rammed into the barricade on Friday. The suspect, who was wielding a knife, succumbed to injuries after being taken to a nearby hospital.
The incident comes less than three months after the January 6 riot that exposed serious flaws in the Capitol's security apparatus.
The locality around the US Capitol and congressional office buildings were immediately put on a lockdown as dozens of marked and unmarked police cars raced toward America's legislative seat.

Security at the Capitol has been very heavy since a mob attacked police and overran security checkpoints on January 6 after attending a political rally organized by former President Donald Trump.
"I just ask that the public continue to keep U.S. Capitol Police and their families in your prayers", Pittman said.
Two law enforcement sources involved in the investigation told BBC partner CBS News that the suspect in the attack was 25-year-old Noah Greene from Indiana.
The auto rammed the barricade into the two officers at a checkpoint on the north side of Capitol Hill Friday afternoon. The suspect also died at a hospital.
The U.S. Capitol complex was placed on lockdown after the shooting, and staffers were told they could not enter or exit buildings.
Video posted online showed a blue sedan crashed against a vehicle barrier near the complex, and a police K9 inspecting the vehicle.
That assault took place while the House of Representatives and Senate, with the Senate presided over by then-Vice President Mike Pence, was certifying Democratic President Joe Biden's November election victory over the Republican Trump.
