Queensland Covid cluster's missing link finally found

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said she would raise the high numbers of overseas-acquired cases in national cabinet next week.

Despite the lifting of lockdown, the Queensland premeir said some restrictions will remain in the state, such as the carrying of a mask by Queenslanders leaving their homes until 15 April.

Diners at restaurants and bars need to be seated and no dancing will be permitted, while home gatherings will be limited to 30.

The premier has described the discovery of the missing link between cases as "fantastic news".

The missing link is a nurse who worked at the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Both Ms Palaszczuk and Queensland Police have urged people heading off for their Easter break to take care on busy roads.

'Well, I can thank Queenslanders because they have come out in their thousands to be tested'.

Dr Young praised the "astronomical amount" of testing being done, with more than 35,000 tests carried out in the past 24 hours.

Ms Palaszczuk said the one new case of community transmission had tested negative in self-isolation on Monday night before returning a positive result on Wednesday.

Australia's state and territory leaders have not yet announced whether they will reopen their borders to Queensland.

Weddings can welcome one person per two square metres or 200 guests - whichever is greater.

Access to mobile networks and all wireless - the less costly options used by most people in the developing country - was blocked. Reuters could not immediately verify the reports and a junta spokesperson did not answer calls seeking comment.

"They have done everything absolutely wonderfully", she said.

"Which is what we know COVID does".

They also wanted to avoid driving family members into quarantine when they returned interstate.

'This will include a large number of staff and it is regardless of whether there was patient contact or not.

Brisbane residents are all but certain they'll remain in lockdown over the Easter long weekend after a quiet amendment to the Queensland Health Department website overnight.

The historical case has been identified as a nurse who contracted the virus from a man who arrived from Europe last month.

The below locations were listed as close contacts and if you visited at the relevant times you should: quarantine for 14 days and complete the contact tracing self-assessment.

"Not only was our wedding cancelled, everyone's wedding from previous year was cancelled - so people are desperately trying to find dates", he said.

The case prompted Premier Gladys Berejiklian to reintroduce restrictions in four northern NSW local government areas - Byron, Ballina, Tweed and Lismore.

Fears were growing the lockdown in Queensland could continue, with a seemingly insignificant paragraph on the state's official health website appearing to indicate the lockdown could last an extra five days.

"It doesn't matter how mild your symptoms are, stay home and enjoy your own home and get yourself tested".
