"With more locations coming on board, these settings will make receiving the COVID-19 vaccine easier and more convenient for eligible populations across the province", Health Minister Christine Elliott said in a statement.
A man is being treated in a Melbourne hospital for an "extremely rare" blood clot condition after receiving the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine. Nearly all the cases are reportedly in younger and middle-aged women.
It is the first blood clot case in Australia, although earlier cases in the United Kingdom and Europe prompted a temporary pause in a number of countries until the European Union medicines regulator declared the AstraZeneca vaccine "safe and effective".
Federal health officials recently advised that the vaccine should only be given to those 55 and over while officials review the data around a very small number of blood clots that have occurred in younger patients who have received the vaccine in Europe.
On Tuesday, an independent vaccine expert panel in Germany said AstraZeneca shots should not routinely be given to people under 60 because of a rise in reported cases of unusual blood clots in the days after vaccination.
Regulators said they had received no reports of such clotting events after the use of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine.
An AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine is prepared at the local vaccination centre as the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) continues in Hagen, Germany, on March 19, 2021. The agency issued the guidance after some European countries, including Germany and France, suspended its use over blood clot fears.
CBP: Little girls dropped from border wall in Southern NM
El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez said her agency was working with Mexican authorities to look into the incident. Last month, almost 9,500 unaccompanied children arrived at the U.S. -Mexico border, a record high for any February in history.
When the EMA declared the vaccine "safe and effective", they resumed its use while investigations continued.
On Friday, Australia reported one case of clotting disorders following inoculation with the AstraZeneca vaccine and is investigating, according to a joint statement by government agencies.
The EMA, which has assessed data from around the world, estimates there is around a one in 100,000 risk of a CVST in people under the age of 60 who have been given the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine. So the natural risk levels - whether people are vaccinated or not - could have a role too.
"If you receive the AstraZeneca vaccine and you experience symptoms of severe, persistent headache or other worrying symptoms, four to 20 days after the vaccine, you should seek medical advice as soon as possible", he said.
Messenger RNA (mRNA) vaccinations include those made by Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna.
The aim is to vaccinate everyone aged 18 or over in the United Kingdom with one dose by the end of July - but children could receive a vaccine in the long term if they are shown to be safe.
