The guidelines come as more Americans feel comfortable traveling.
In a statement, CDC said fully vaccinated people can travel "at low risk to themselves", as they are at "low risk to get or spread COVID-19".
Politico reports that the CDC on Friday updated its guidance on travel during the pandemic, saying Americans can feel free to travel around the United States and internationally, as long as they're fully vaccinated-which means two weeks after their final shot, per NBC News-and continue to follow appropriate health and safety protocols. "We continue to encourage every American to get vaccinated as soon as it's their turn, so we can begin to safely take steps back to our everyday lives".
Anyone who's been holding off on trying to get a COVID vaccine may now have a new incentive.

According to the CDC, almost 100 million people in the USA - or about 30% of the population - have received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. A person is considered fully vaccinated two weeks after receiving the last recommended dose of vaccine. Those people should still get tested one to three days before travel, and again three to five days afterward.
Global travelers are still required to show a negative COVID-19 test to board a flight heading to the United States, and are recommended to get another test three to five days after returning.
But global travelers headed to the United States should have a negative Covid-19 test before they get on the plane, be tested after arrival, and must quarantine if local authorities in the United States require it, the CDC said in a statement.
- Fully vaccinated people do not need to self-quarantine after returning to the United States, unless required by a state or local jurisdiction. Unvaccinated travelers should still get tested 1-3 days before domestic travel and again 3-5 days after travel. The agency noted the potential introduction of virus variants and differences in vaccine coverage around the world for the cautious guidance on overseas travel. The agency cited "recent studies" of real-world evidence proving vaccines work outside of a clinical trial environment. However, it urged vaccinated Americans to keep wearing masks in public and to avoid crowds. It also said vaccinated people could visit with unvaccinated people from a single household under similar conditions, as long as the unvaccinated individuals were at low risk for severe illness if infected.
