Fully vaccinated Americans can resume travel, updated CDC guidance states

US says vaccinated people can travel with precautions

However, the TSA said it was not lifting restrictions that bar most-non USA citizens from the United States if they have recently traveled to China, Brazil, South Africa, and most of Europe.

It is expected that the US will surpass 100 million people who have received at least one dose of vaccine Friday.

In a statement, CDC said fully vaccinated people can travel "at low risk to themselves", as they are at "low risk to get or spread COVID-19".

The major USA airlines including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines, Southwest Airlines, and other trade groups had asked the CDC on March 22 to change its guidance to say "vaccinated individuals can travel safely".

- Fully vaccinated people can travel within the USA, without getting tested for the coronavirus or quarantining. Although traffic remains down by almost half from a year ago, more than 1 million travelers daily have been going through USA airports in recent weeks.

The new advice comes after months of the CDC urging all Americans to avoid any kind of non-essential travel.

USA 'open' to Iran's suggestion of 'wider nuclear deal roadmap'
The commission will meet relevant experts to "to clearly identify sanctions lifting and nuclear implementation measures". Tehran has said that it would resume its own compliance with the JCPOA once the lifting of sanctions has been verified.

And, during Friday's White House briefing, CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, MPH, said it would be better if vaccinated people stayed home.

And mitigation measures remain even for vaccinated travelers: wear masks, avoid large crowds and wash hands frequently.

- Vaccinated people should still get a negative COVID-19 test before boarding a flight to the US, and be tested three to five days after returning. It added that vaccinated people returning to the United States do not need to self-quarantine unless it is required by state or local authorities. Some destination countries may require a negative Covid-19 test for entry.

Masks are still recommended, along with social distancing and other precautions.

The CDC cited recent research on the real-world effects of the vaccines for its updated guidance. The first vaccines - from Pfizer and Moderna - require two doses taken a few weeks apart. It also said vaccinated people could visit with unvaccinated people from a single household under similar conditions, as long as the unvaccinated individuals were at low risk for severe illness if infected.

Indeed, all US airlines still require passengers to wear masks.
