Announcement on possible new restrictions coming to Mississauga, Brampton and Ontario

Premier Doug Ford announcing the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. 8 February 2021

Just last week, the government loosened restrictions in regions, including Toronto and Peel, which are in the grey-lockdown zone of the provinces reopening framework, to allow outdoor fitness classes.

Ontario is poised to enter a month-long lockdown to try and curb the rise in COVID-19 cases across the province, several sources tells 680 NEWS.

A source with knowledge of the restrictions discussed at a cabinet meeting Wednesday night said the final details of the new measures will be worked out Thursday morning.

"One thing that has been confusing for people -is we have so many rules applicable in different places", he said at the same news conference as Ford.

"Nothing is more important than our health".

Matt Gaetz Denies Allegations, Claims He's Victim Of Extortion
Remarkably, the investigation is not the only time Gaetz has taken heat over sex trafficking. But it certainly showed this is a deeply interesting story and we will be following it.

For the seventh day in a row, Ontario reported more than 2,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, while the number of patients in intensive care units (ICU) reached the highest number since the pandemic began previous year. "Make no mistake, we have to be cautious, and that's why we have the emergency break available".

Ontario has also reported more than 2,000 new infections for the past seven consecutive days, with the seven-day average of new cases hitting 2,316 on Wednesday. Currently, there are at least 1,090 patients in hospital due to COVID-19 and 387 are being treated in intensive care.

"I do think what's necessary is a pullback of reopening, as well as the kind of targeted economic supports for reducing workplace transmission and the transfer of the virus from workplaces into homes", he said.

"Spending time outdoors is something that people can do that's really not going to appreciably increase our risk", he said.
