State and federal lawmakers from Central New York on Wednesday called for an investigation into claims by a former aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo that the governor sexually harassed her and made unwanted advances.
Boylan recounts other inappropriate comments and actions she says the governor made, including giving roses to female staffers and suggesting a game of "strip poker" during a flight from an event in October 2017. "He used intimidation to silence his critics", she writes. She initially turned it down, she says, not wanting to have to work closely with Cuomo, but accepted once she was promised she could keep her old office and not work on the same floor as the governor.
Boylan said her career was strained by the inappropriate treatment, which extended to other women in the government of NY.
The Democratic governor is facing calls for an investigation after Lindsey Boylan - who worked as a special advisor to Cuomo in 2018 - charged in an essay published to Medium Wednesday that Cuomo asked her to play strip poker and kissed on the lips without her permission.
Boylan claimed that the governor's "pervasive harassment" was not limited to her. She also said that the recent stories of the bullying in the Cuomo Administration further emboldened her.
The governor denied the allegations when they arose in December.
"As we said before, Ms. Boylan's claims of inappropriate behavior are quite simply false", Cuomo's office said.
Personnel records from her time with Team Cuomo reveal that Boylan left her post under an administrative cloud. "And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences".

Army Corps of Engineers has argued that it consulted more than 250 times with tribal and historic preservation authorities. Barrasso brought up an October 7 tweet by the nominee in which she declared that "Republicans don't believe in science".
The governor's office released a statement on Wednesday, challenging Boylan's plane allegations.
The records, dated September 2018 and obtained by the Daily News late past year, show that at least two officials requested Boylan be "removed" from the office for requesting the resignation of an employee without authorization and for ordering around colleagues who did not report to her. "Seeing his name floated as a potential candidate for U.S. Attorney General - the highest law enforcement official in the land - set me off", she said. "We refuse to accept a definition of leadership that depends on denigrating and abusing others in service to one powerful man". "We need the full truth", the mayor said last week.
The Sexual Harassment Working Group, an advocacy group started by former NY state legislative workers who had experienced sexual harassment, called for an immediate investigation into Cuomo's workplace behavior: "This is another reckoning point. Governor Cuomo must immediately resign", Stefanik wrote in a statement posted on Twitter.
"Nursing homes telling him: 'You can't do this, '" Kim said.
Stefanik is not the first NY lawmaker to call for an end to Cuomo's term.
'Your governor of NY has done one hell of a job. "The governor's attempt to strong-arm me into lying for his administration should be the last straw".
While Cuomo believed Justice Brett Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination - along with his life, reputation, and career - should be derailed over less-than-unsubstantiated allegations of sexual assault in 2018, Cuomo now suffers from his own charges of misconduct from a former aide.
