India slammed worldwide celebrities on Wednesday for making comments in support of protesting farmers as inaccurate and irresponsible and said vested interest groups were trying to build opinion against the country.
Rihanna, Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, American actress Amanda Cerni, US Vice President Kamala Harris' niece Meena Harris and several other prominent people took to Twitter to lend their voices to the months-long farmers' protests against three newly enacted agri laws.
Devgn said people shouldn " t "fall for any false propaganda against India or Indian policies".
From India removing the special status for the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir, CAA protests or farmers agitation, New Delhi has always sharply reacted to any reaction by foreign entities and reminded them that they have no locus to react on the country's internal matters.
The common theme among the four Indian celebrities in their tweets was the attempt to declare the support extended by Rihanna, Greta, Meena and Mia as worldwide propaganda.

The MEA has slammed the remarks made by Rihanna and other celebrities and activists on farmer protests, saying the facts on the issue must be ascertained before rushing to comment on it.
India's ministry of external affairs calling the comments the, "temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others" as "neither accurate nor responsible". The two hashtags had garnered over 759k and 821k tweets by 10.45pm and were the top trends globally around 10.30pm; #IndiaWithModi, was also among the top trends on the microblogging platform with over 262k tweets. "Farmers are an integral part of our country and I'm sure an amicable solution will be found between all parties to bring about peace and move forward together", tweeted Kohli.
The MEA reiterated that the new farm laws were passed "after a full debate and discussion" and that they ensured "expanded market access and provided greater flexibility to farmers".
Soon after, Akshay Kumar retweeted the official statement by the Ministry of External Affairs and wrote, "Farmers constitute an extremely important part of our country. Let's remain united as a nation", he said.
At the time of tweeting, she had around 100.9 million followers and that number grew over the next 24 hours despite the consequent name-calling by the Indian government's ecosystem. "This is related. We all should be outraged by India's internet shutdowns and paramilitary violence against farmer protesters". Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh shared a song tribute to Rihanna for her tweet and actor Ali Fazal said the issue was not "an internal matter".
In the document, various urgent actions, including creating a Twitter storm and protesting outside Indian embassies, were listed which were needed to be taken to support farmers' agitation. The government had blocked internet services at three protest sites near Delhi borders.
