Leak suggests 'Halo Infinite' multiplayer will be free-to-play

In the aftermath of a widely derided gameplay trailer showcasing visuals that some claimed were worse than Halo 4 on the Xbox 360, the announcement of free-to-play mechanics in Halo Infinite is likely to further stoke the flames.

At this time, Xbox has made a decision to remove the 12 months Xbox Live Gold SKU from the Microsoft online Store. If there's a plan to make online play free, and promote Game Pass as the replacement paid option, then things make more sense.

Xbox Live Gold is one of Microsoft's oldest subscription services, and even though the company doesn't share the number of subscribers, it's definitely a big source of revenue for the company.

For Games with Gold in August, as always there's two Xbox One games and a pair of backward compatible games, with this month's pair both coming from the original Xbox.

Made in Ontario with a group of volunteers at Shopify, COVID Alert lets users know if they may have been exposed to the virus. Health authorities in Ontario will be the first to begin distributing unique codes to people who test positive for COVID-19.

Irish retailer Smyth's recently posted details about Halo Infinite on their Xbox Series X page, which have since been taken down.

For the most part, Xbox is a good sport.

343 Industries announced Friday that Halo Infinite multiplayer will be free-to-play and will support 120 frames per second on the Xbox Series X. Do you think it's time for the company to make free-to-play multiplayer games truly free on Xbox consoles?
