Google employees will work from home until summer 2021

Google Is Letting Employees Work From Home Until July

The decision to let employees work from home till next year also puts pressure on other tech firms that are planning to reopen global offices in the coming months.

The Mountain View, California-based tech giant had previously planned on bringing workers back to its offices beginning in January, and is now the first major US corporation to firmly extend its work-from-home timeline so far into the future. Others have the option to perform their duties remotely through June 30 next year.

Alphabet Inc's Google said on Monday it would allow employees, who do not need to be in the office, to work from home until the end of June 2021. However, it seems Google is rethinking this strategy given the current condition and will continue with remote working protocols till next July.

That appears to be the thinking of Google, as CEO Sundar Pichai told employees Monday morning that many of them would be working from home until July 2021 at the earliest.

Singer Denise Johnson, Primal Scream star, dies
The tracklist for the acoustic album includes original material alongside covers of New Order, The Smiths and 10CC. The singer had been "ill in the week prior to her death, but told friends she was "much better" on Friday".

Google has been among the most aggressive in keeping its employees out of the office during the pandemic, and it looks like it just extended the schedule yet again. Pichai chose to adopt the extended work-from-home guidelines in large part because of the uncertainty surrounding the upcoming school year.

Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg took it a step further when he recently announced that almost half of Facebook's staff will be working from their homes in the next decade.

Most tech companies have announced that the bulk of employees can work from home until the end of 2020, or haven't finalized a timeline.

That voluntary option, however, only applies to non-essential employees that "don't need to be in the office", he said.
