News broke last week that at least 14 people had contracted the virus after visiting Harper's Restaurant & Brew Pub in East Lansing, home to Michigan Sate University, between June 12 and 20.

Now, the health department is asking anyone who visited the bar to self-quarantine for 14-days. None have been hospitalized so far and most are showing mild symptoms, with four being asymptomatic.

That host was symptomatic during the party and became more ill over the weekend before being tested for COVID-19 on Monday.

Now, the Ingham County Health Department says that number is up to 85.

The bar tried to tell customers waiting in line "to cover your faces and practice social distancing" by placing signs on the sidewalk, "according to the publication". All who tested positive were said to be between the ages of 18 and 23.

Vail said business owners need to help enforce the rules to contain an outbreak. "Because we have no authority to control lines on public property, we are left with the dilemma of staying open and letting this situation continue, or closing until we can devise a strategy that eliminates the lines altogether". "Our oversight of the line on our stairs has been successful, but trying to get customers to follow our recommendations on the public sidewalk has been challenging".

In several MI counties, employees are pushing for businesses to close again.

The Detroit Free Press reported Sunday that 30 new COVID-19 cases 100 miles away in affluent Grosse Pointe have been linked to the Harper's outbreak. The bar temporarily closed on June 22 after the outbreak was detected.

"Bar culture promotes mingling, and in a tipping industry, are you going to have a fight with a customer about wearing a mask?" said one area bartender, who asked to remain anonymous because she fears her job could be impacted. The group of at least 500 people was heading toward Mayor Lyda Krewson's home, chanting, "Resign Lyda, take the cops with you", news outlets reported. This incident marked a 600 percent jump from the prior day of two total cases.
