Dylan Frittelli fourth PGA Tour player to test positive for COVID-19

The tour said in a statement that English, who did not play last week in CT, tested positive during the pre-tournament screening process in Detroit for the Rocket Mortgage Classic that starts Thursday.

"I am experiencing no issues and feel great physically and was surprised and disappointed to learn of the positive test today", said Frittelli, who will now go into self-isolation.

"My thoughts are with anyone dealing with Covid, directly and indirectly. I appreciate the tour support and I look forward to competing again after I'm fully recovered".

Frittelli missed the cut in CT last Friday but failed the test when arriving to board the Tour's charter to fly from CT to MI. The South African player took a saliva test so he could take the tour's charter to Detroit, and the result came back positive Sunday.

English, 30, hoins Nick Watney, Cameron Champ, Denny McCarthy and Dylan Frittelli in testing positive for the coronavirus since the PGA Tour resumed following a three-month hiatus created to mitigate the pandemic's spread on June 11.

Nick Watney was the first player to test positive for the virus at the Heritage tournament two weeks ago while fellow Americans Cameron Champ and Denny McCarthy tested positive last week at Cromwell, Connecticut.

Koepka's brother Chase and Webb Simpson withdrew having been in close proximity with a person who had subsequently tested positive, while Bud Cauley, who played with McCarthy but tested negative, pulled out as a precautionary measure.
