Pakistan cricket players to travel to Manchester

Pakistan confirm 20-man squad which departs for England on Sunday

This announcement from the European Central Bank comes even though as many as ten Pakistan players tested positive for COVID-19.

Pakistan's T20 captain Babar Azam tweeted a picture of some of the players from the plane. The board, clearly upset with Hafeez's refusal to go into quarantine gave him a rap on the knuckles.

When the PCB agreed to the tour, they had announced a strict testing policy which meant that only players who twice tested negative for coronavirus would board the plane to England.

"This is a very intriguing situation for the board".

"Misbah understands that flexibility and adaptability will be needed with his training and practice schedule while operating under various guideline", Wasim Khan said.

"That is why he took a second test privately as a precautionary measure he had no intention to embarrass the authorities", the source said.

If the second tests of the players who earlier tested positive again comes positive they will miss the flight to England and will be replaced by reserves and will have to undergo a quarantine process.

European Central Bank said Pakistan's cricket team will start a 14-day isolation period at Blackfinch New Road, Worcester before transferring to Derbyshire's the Incora County Ground on July 13 to accelerate their preparation ahead of the first Test, which will include two four-day internal warm-up matches.

Physiotherapist Cliffe Deacon and bowling coach Waqar Younis will join the side directly from South Africa and Australia, respectively, while all-rounder Shoaib Malik is expected to travel around July 24 after spending time with his family having not seen them for five months.

After reaching England, the squad will undergo the England and Wales Cricket Board testing at Worcestershire followed by a 14-day isolation period, during which they can train. The 39-year-old Hafeez later said he had actually tested negative for the virus.
