Novak Djokovic sets up eight-player tournament in the Balkans next month

Adria Tour: Zadar to Host New Tennis Tournament Organized by Novak Djokovic

Novak Djokovic says he was fortunate to be able to train "almost every day" during the lockdown in Spain, but he didn't share videos on social media as he didn't want to irk his competitors.

With professional tennis shut down by the novel coronavirus pandemic, world No 1 Novak Djokovic is bringing together some of the world's top tennis players for a series of matches to run from June 13-July 5 in the Balkan region.

The German will join world number three Dominic Thiem and Grigor Dimitrov, ranked 19, in Belgrade on 13-14 June for the first stop of the Adria Tour.

Before the season resumes in earnest, Djokovic will play in a round-robin tournament that he is organizing, the Adria Tour, which is slated to begin June 13.

The tournament will also feature the likes of Dominic Thiem, Alexander Zverev, Grigor Dimitrov and Damir Dzumhur among others.

"This is the first time any of them will be playing here and I will do everything in my power to be a good host".

"Bosnia as well as Montenegro are still not 100 percent specific as the hosts of the last 2 legs since we have not had sufficient time to prepare the framework, however we are extremely virtually there".

Novak Djokovic kept it quiet that he was able to train nearly every day during his coronavirus lockdown as the world number one did not want to "infuriate other players".

"I refrained from posting clips on social networks because I didn't want to infuriate other players".

French Open organisers said they are working hard to avoid a September clash with the US Open, with both Grand Slams set to be played with no supporters watching.

"I am fit and in good shape, so I am looking forward to the Adria Tour, which I am organising", Djokovic said.

"As for Rafael Nadal, I have no problem giving him a call", he said, "but I wouldn't expect him to come over".

Montenegro and Bosnia Herzegovina are scheduled to host the final two legs but Djokovic is still waiting on confirmation due to infrastructure.
