EPL: Arteta ‘dreams’ of signing Coutinho for Arsenal

Arsenal In Talks With Coutinho’s Agent Ahead Of Summmer Transfer

The Premier League 2019/20 season is not over yet but clubs have already done some work in preparation for the summer transfer window and Arsenal have been linked with many players but the most reports have claimed that they will try to sign Atletico Madrid's Thomas Partey and Barcelona's Philippe Coutinho.

The Brazilian defender was an £8m Deadline Day signing from London rivals Chelsea last August, replacing club captain Laurent Koscielny, who joined Bordeaux the previous day.

Coutinho's agent Joorabchian is a long-time Arsenal fan, and good friends with Gunners' technical director Edu.

They say that Barcelona 'hope' they can recover some of the money they sent to Arsenal down the years signing the likes of Marc Overmars, Cesc Fábregas, Thierry Henry and several others for big fees, by selling them Coutinho.

The Brazil global is presently on a season-long loan at Bayern Munich where he has bagged nine goals and eight assists across all competitions.

Lifting of emergency over coronavirus leaves businesses with mixed feelings
A masked woman walks past an electronic stock board showing Japan's Nikkei 225 index at a securities firm in Tokyo, May 21, 2020. A second phase could start at the end of the month, which sources suggest could see shops and cinemas reopen.

But it seems Joorabchian would only sanction the transfer if he is convinced Coutinho is 100 per cent happy with the deal - regardless of his affiliation with the club.

He told the Portuguese club's official website: 'I always said that I would like to end my career at Benfica.

'For all that I lived and felt, for what Benfica is in my life and in my history, for everything, Benfica is bigger than any player'. Everything is a possibility.

Philippe Coutinho is a versatile midfielder that was once one of the best players in the Premier League and it's believed that he didn't like playing as a winger at Barcelona.
