British GP open to August date to save race

F1 still seeking Silverstone resolution despite quarantine rules

"Of course we've got our original dates in june and july and we've got a degree of flexibility through august as well".

The British Grand Prix could still go ahead this year after the United Kingdom prime minister called on his government to consider making F1's travelling personnel exempt from the country's new quarantine rules.

Silverstone manager Stuart Pringle told Sky Sports he was hopeful of a solution: "I am very clear that the importance of the industry is understood by government, so I remain optimistic that a sensible and pragmatic solution, which puts the onus on the sport quite rightly to come up with the right solution, can be found".

The 2020 British Grand Prix appears to be back on amid reports British Prime Minister Boris Johnson will intervene to ensure teams and staff are exempt from the incoming 14-day quarantine ruling.

"I do not suppose that discovering a date for Formula 1 goes to be an issue, or certainly two dates".

An F1 spokesman said: 'We have been working closely with the government on the implications of the policy for Formula One and Silverstone, and those discussion are ongoing at his time with the aim of finding a solution with safety as our first priority'.

The sports' organizers are hoping to start the season with the Austrian Grand Prix on July 5 behind closed doors, followed by a second race at the Red Bull Ring a week later.

Sisolak targeting June 4 reopening date for casinos
The time of the press conference was not announced but the administration has been making them available to the public online. In addition, dice will be disinfected between shooters, chips cleaned periodically, and card decks changed frequently.

"In terms of the period we need to stand the venue up, without fans present, it really is relatively short".

This is line with a regulation, which will come into force on June 8, that anyone arriving in the United Kingdom will be required to quarantine for 14 days. "We've got two permanent paddock blocks, so we're not talking about putting up too many marquees or fan areas or anything like that".

Despite the restrictions seemingly making a race at Silverstone impossible due to the lead times involved, F1 says it has not yet given up hope of reaching an agreement with the government.

The sport earlier this week stressed the need for a quarantine exemption by highlighting the effect that the new rules would have on "tens of thousands of jobs linked to F1 and supply chains".

"It's a huge logistical operation, they've got to knit together a series of dates and get a freight plan that works, and got to know what the impact on the personnel is". "So actually I've got flexibility in the calendar".

"For Silverstone, if we move into August, that might give a little more certainty, but actually, I think it's probably essential that there's clarity on the quarantine situation in advance of that".
