South Florida Amber Alert canceled, 9-year-old boy found deceased

A nine-year-old autistic boy from Florida, who sparked a desperate search overnight after being abducted from his mother's auto by two men looking to score drugs was found dead in a lake this morning.

"The vehicle then blocked her in while a male passenger ambushed her, demanding drugs".

The agency posted a message on Facebook on Friday saying the alert has been cancelled, adding: 'we are very sad to report that the child was found deceased'.

The incident happened on Thursday in the area of SW 158th Avenue and Kendall Drive in Miami, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, which issued the amber alert just before midnight. Ripley was diagnosed on the autism spectrum and was non-verbal.

Investigators say Alejandro was with his mother as she drove westbound on SW 88th Street.

News outlets reported a body was pulled from a canal near the Miccosukee Golf & Country Club, about 4 miles (6.4 kilometers) from the spot he was allegedly abducted. Police questioned employees at the Home Depot where Ripley was abducted, as well as the boy's family.

An unidentified male then walked toward Ripley's mother and demanded the woman hand over drugs. Officials have not yet revealed the identity of the victim and the cause of death remains under investigation.
