Historic WWII ship saved from San Francisco warehouse fire

Fisherman's Wharf fire

Flames are ripping through a warehouse on San Francisco's fabled Fisherman's Wharf as firefighters battled to save a historic World War II ship.

Firefighters say there were no injuries reported. "A few seconds later, the building started caving in".

"That is something of grave concern, that is why we're actively trying to confirm if anybody saw anybody in this building", he told KGO-TV.

The SS Jeremiah O'Brien, one of just two remaining fully functioning Liberty ships that were launched during World War II and which stormed Normandy in the 1944 D-Day operation, suffered only paint damage, according to the San Francisco Fire Department.

Sony to reveal "compelling PS5 games lineup" soon
By "everything we know" I mean we know nearly nothing, apart from Yoshida mentioning that the reveal will be soon. Of course, the current global climate has no doubt affected the console manufacturer's plans.

As of 6:15 a.m., as Bay City News reports, crews were still putting out the fire at the warehouse, and plumes of smoke were visible across the Bay and downtown SF as the sun rose Saturday.

The holiday weekend kicked off with a four-alarm fire at a fish processing facility on Pier 45 near Fisherman's Wharf.

Firefighters had to pull back, as the scene became too risky, because flames had consumed so much of the building, and the walls were collapsing.

Fire investigators were assessing any damage to the pier and were looking into the cause of the blaze, Baxter said.
