U.S., Russia, EU and United Nations to discuss possible summit on Israel

A top manager at the Central Intelligence Agency who had been removed from his position for abusive behavior has been relocated to a senior position in the drone strike program the Associated Press reports

Palestinian officials are yet to comment on whether the move was related to recent remarks by President Mahmoud Abbas on Palestine's withdrawal from past agreements with the U.S. and Israel as Tela Aviv is expected to annex large parts of the occupied West Bank.

The Palestinian Authority (PA) has refused to accept a large shipment of much-needed medical aid, meant to fight the coronavirus, from the United Arab Emirates because the plane carrying it landed at Israel's Ben-Gurion International Airport.

The Arab48 news website quoted Israeli sources as saying that Palestinian security forces withdrew from the town of Abu Dis, near Jerusalem, on Friday morning.

An Israeli official said the flight would be delivering humanitarian aid provided by the UAE to the Palestinians and that the cargo flight was coordinated with the Israeli government.

Al-Ayyam, an Arabic language newspaper based in Ramallah has reported that UN Secretary-General António Guterres called Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday to update him about the idea of a meeting on a ministerial level under UN auspices.

Intelligence cooperation with the CIA continued even after the Palestinians began boycotting U.S. peace proposals led by President Donald Trump in 2017, with the sides working together to head off violence in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where the Palestinian Authority is based, Reuters reported.

Shamni said he expected that the Israeli occupation forces and the Shabak's (Israel's domestic intelligence agency) incursions into areas A "which the Palestinians took care of in the past will increase, because attempts to carry out armed operations will increase", and pointed out that "there is no mediator between us".

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in January 2018, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: "There is an alignment of Israel and other countries in the Middle East that would have been unimaginable 10 years ago".

Abbas announced Tuesday that the Palestinians were no longer bound by agreements with Israel and the U.S., citing the new Israeli government's plan to move forward with annexation plans.

Officials from the U.S., Russia, EU and United Nations will hold a video-conference today to discuss the possibility of an global meeting to restart the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Western diplomats tell me.

Representatives of the so-called Middle East Quartet will meet Friday via video conference amid efforts by Moscow to deter Israel from annexing parts of the West Bank and bring the Palestinians back to talks.

"Israel has breached worldwide law and violated all the agreements signed with us, whether the political, security, economic, and legal agreements".

In the long term, the PA is reliant on security cooperation with Israel to ward off Hamas and the Islamic Jihad, which will likely try to make inroads in the West Bank if cooperation actually does end.

Jordan threatened on Thursday to review its relationship with Israel if the plans to annex parts of the West Bank went ahead.
