Madagascar President, WHO DG hold virtual meeting

Lauretta-Onochie

Ghana's Ministry of Information has announced that Ghana has received some samples of the Madagascar COVID-19 herbal remedy known as "Covid-Organics".

The federation says the move would encourage Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to fast track processes in approving proposed local herbal medicines for COVID-19.

"We insist that the COVID-ORGANIC CVO from Madagascar, was a brotherly gift from one nation to some African countries". "We have reached out to them [Madagascar]", he said during a programme on GTV.

This month President Rajoelina responded to critics of his country's much touted herbal remedy for coronavirus.

"We have offered to support the design of a study to look into this product, " Matshidiso Moeti said.

Nana Obiri revealed they have presented two sets of medicines including herbal medicines which are yet to be tested and approved for use by FDA. Madagascar enhances the African pharmacopoeia by imposing the virtue of our medicinal plants and the work of African researchers. President Andry Rajoelina in a video conference with Moise said "we have pushed our research through Artemisia, combined with several other plants, which has already proven itself for several years".

Confirming the call, the World Health Organization boss tweeted: "Good call with HE Rajoelina, President of Madagascar, about the #COVID19 situation in his country". The WHO has warned him, pushing him to avoid that remedy on people without having it tested properly.

However, this alarm did not find President Rajoelina, who continues to promote the drink, bottled and labeled as "Covid-Organics".
