Valve Thinks a Non-VR Half

Valve Thinks a Non-VR Half-Life: Alyx Mod Is Inevitable

Described as the return of the legendary Half-Life series, Half-Life: Alyx finally met with game lovers.

"It will clearly demonstrate to people why we did this in VR". It comes out after a decade and not only throws major KO punches being one of the most revolutionary games ever, but has 10s of thousands playing it at once, and 100s of thousands watching those people play it in VR, live. Team Fortress 2 chief designer and Half-Life: Alyx programmer Robin Walker, who interviewed VGC, said that a mode that separates Half-Life: Alyx from VR is not a bad idea. "I've been half trolling members of the team who are anxious about this!" He suspects the same will be true if a mod is released that removes VR from the game.

"There's a part of me that's eager for people to be able to have that experience and realise, oh, now I get it".

"I know it's going to happen", Walker said, explaining he wasn't too concerned because of how different the experience would be.

Tsunami watch for Hawaii lifted after north Pacific quake
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said earthquakes of this strength in the past have caused tsunamis far from the epicenter. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center has cancelled the Tsunami Watch for the Island and State of Hawaiʻi, civil defense says.

"As a result, when people reach the version without VR and lose all the things gained by turning to VR, they will understand very well why we made this choice".

Valve launched Half-Life: Alyx barely 24 hours ago on March 23, and it quickly broke the concurrent user record for a VR game on Steam.

"We joked that we were more anxious about announcing the game than finishing it", Walker said, "which was a very novel experience. We really- we've been working on this for four years and we're really excited because the reception before the game is out seems to be really quite positive, so far".
