Federer donates 1 mln Swiss Francs in fight against COVID-19

Roger Federer plays at Wimbledon

"Mirka and I have personally chose to donate one million Swiss Francs for the most vulnerable families in Switzerland", said Federer in the post.

"We must help families in need quickly and unbureaucratically".

In a typically classy post, Federer wrote on Instagram post: "These are challenging times for everyone and nobody should be left behind".

The hospital did not say how much money the player donated, but Catalan sports daily Mundo Deportivo said it was one million euros.

"Our contribution is just the beginning". Together we can overcome this crisis.

Kevin Hart and wife Eniko Hart expecting second child together
The beauty often goes out with the little ones and spoils them from time to time just like they were her own flesh and blood. Kevin Hart has two children from his marriage with Torrei Hart , and one from his marriage to Eniko Hart .

During his plea, Federer was heard saying, "I'm also staying home, and I haven't been shaking anybody's hands for quite some time now".

Europe remains at the heart of the epidemic, with first Italy and now Spain's death toll overtaking that of China, while Britain's Prince Charles became the latest prominent figure to test positive for the Covid-19 disease.

Federer's message comes as the coronavirus pandemic has spread to 194 nations, infecting over 4 lakh people. The government has already issued orders to close public places like schools, restaurants, bars, etc.

Federer is now in rehab as he had undergone surgery to resolve a longstanding knee problem. The French Open - the next Grand Slam on the tennis schedule - has been moved to September from May. Federer, a 20-times Grand Slam victor, is now recovering from a knee surgery he underwent last month and was targeting a return in June in time for Wimbledon.
