New Facebook tool lets you move photos to Google

The changes which will take effect on Jan 1 2020 will comply with the California Consumer Privacy Act

Facebook today announced that the company is releasing a new tool that will enable users to transfer photos and videos from Facebook directly to other services.

Apple, Facebook, Google, Microsoft and Twitter are all part of the Data Transfer Project, and more companies are expected to join in the future.

The California law requires large businesses to give consumers more transparency and control over their personal information, such as allowing them to request that their data be deleted and to opt out of having their data sold to third parties. To foster that trust, people and online services need clear rules about what kinds of data should be portable and who is responsible for protecting that data as it moves to different services.

Once the feature is available in your region, it'll be available in the Your Facebook Information section of your settings.

Facebook's data export tool will be rolled out to users in Ireland initially, with worldwide availability in the first half of 2020.

DN Test: Pakistan on verge of series defeat against Australia
Marnus Labuschagne also produced back-to-back centuries as the Australian batsmen dominated an inexperienced Pakistan attack. Masood then took to Lyon, dancing down the wicket to hit a straight drive for four to bring up his sixth test half-century.

In an attempt to get the so-called Data Transfer Project moving, Facebook is now making it easier for users to transfer all their pictures from their Facebook profile to Google Photos.

Facebook says it wants to build practical solutions to data portability that people can trust and use effectively.

All data transfers will be encrypted and users will be asked for a password before the transfer is initiated, the company said in a blog post.

"That's why we're developing new products that take into account the feedback we've received and will help drive data portability policies forward by giving people and experts a tool to assess".
