Matthew Stafford out against Bears with broken back bones

Though it's been a rough stretch for Mitch Trubisky and the Bears Lions coach Matt Patricia isn't overlooking the Chicago quarterback

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on Sunday morning that Lions QB Matthew Stafford is not expected to play against the Bears on Sunday due to fractured bones he has in his back.

The reasons, according to ESPN, were fractured bones in Stafford's back, an injury that reportedly dates back to previous year.

Meinke also added that Stafford's current maladies are not related to his prior injuries.

The Lions signed Driskel in September, after he was waived-injured by the Cincinnati Bengals, and acquired Blough in an August trade with the Cleveland Browns.

Driskel, the subject of interest from at least one team at last month's trade deadline, made five starts for the Cincinnati Bengals a year ago, completing 59.7% of his passes and throwing six touchdown passes against two interceptions. "Had the back injury last week near the end of the Oakland game".

"I'll be good to go", Stafford said Wednesday. "I'll be good to go". That's the second-longest active streak by a QB in the National Football League behind Phillip Rivers.

The other day we had a painful defeat and we had to win today", he said. "Having him around gives us a real boost". Sergio Busquets added another in the 85th minute to complete the comprehensive win on the night.

What is Matthew Stafford's injury?

They're already playing without quarterback Matthew Stafford.

Despite Stafford wanting to play, it is probably best that he avoids putting himself in harm's way on Sunday versus the Bears.

The Lions have listed Stafford on their injury report as questionable five times going back to last season, including twice this year - once before the game against the Chiefs in Week 4, and this week.

Stafford's last missed start came 3,234 days ago, on January 2, 2011.
