Elections Canada announced advance voting stations will open across the country, from 9:00 a.m.to 9 p.m. on Friday until Monday, Oct. 14.

An Alberta man has received a voting card from Elections Canada despite being a British national and not a Canadian citizen, making him therefore ineligible to vote.

Advance polls open Friday and stay open through the Thanksgiving long weekend.

To find out where your assigned polling station is, check the back of your voter information card, visit the Elections Canada website, or phone the organization at 1-800-463-6868.

All that is needed to vote is a driver's licence, or any other identification issued by the federal or provincial governments that has the voter's photo, name and address listed.

Voter turnout across Canada was 68.5 per cent in the 2015 federal election - the highest since 1993. "All you do is enter your postal code and it will tell you where your voting location is for advance polls", she said.

Boris Johnson opens door to customs compromise
Sterling rose sharply on worldwide money markets in the wake of the talks, on which Cabinet received a briefing on Friday morning. Following his "technical" discussion with Mr Barclay in Brussels, Mr Barnier told reporters: "Be patient".

Byers said the new ballot slips will still need to be counted by scanning machine, but that the margin of error goes down without having to fill in an oval by pen to vote.

You can also get involved by applying to work at the polls themselves.

And you probably already know this already, but it's worth repeating: Canadians don't vote directly for a prime minister. The employees oversee 260 voting opportunities in the local riding, from polling stations to special voting at places like seniors homes, Kamloops Regional Correctional Centre and Royal Inland Hospital.

Selfie enthusiasts hoping to snap a pic with their marked ballot are reminded that it is illegal to do so, as it violates the secrecy of the vote under the Canada Elections Act. "We've gotten a head start in that and we're prepared to roll out a whole new system", Bledi said.

We heard from someone turning 18 the day before the election who was curious if there is any sort of waiting period to process registration. The election worker will then return only the unmarked inner envelopes to the ballot box and mix them up. And though you still may be 17 right now, you can actually register to get on the voters list in advance right here.
