Naomi Osaka Drops US Citizenship to Compete for Japan in 2020 Olympics

She was born in Japan to a Haitian father and a Japanese mother who moved to the U.S. where the future sports star was raised and began to play tennis.

Tennis star Naomi Osaka seems to be dropping the USA like a bad habit and putting all her heart into her home country of Japan. At 22 years old, Japanese law obliges dual-nationality citizens to choose one.

World number three tennis star Naomi Osaka has decided to choose a Japanese citizenship over an American one, as she prepares to compete in the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo. Eastern legislation stipulates that a Eastern with better than one nationality must selected one sooner than turning 22 years frail.

Osaka was raised in the US and lives in Boca Raton, Fla., and it is unclear if her residence will change.

Osaka is now in fine form, winning the Toray Pan Pacific event in September and the China Open this month.

Southgate accepts reality Czech in Prague and promises better in Bulgaria
Manager Gareth Southgate defended individual players from criticism but said that his team needed to be better when not in possession.

She told Japanese public broadcaster NHK that it gives her "a special feeling to try to go to the Olympics to represent Japan".

Osaka, who plays under a Japanese flag on the WTA Tour, made her Fed Cup debut for the country in 2017. "I think that will be one of the most memorable things that ever happens to me".

"Everyone who competes at the Olympics wants to be an Olympic champion, so that would be my aim".

"I'm kind of looking forward to everything like the opening ceremony". "It's also a very big honor to even be participating".

She won the Pan Pacific Open in Osaka, Japan in mid-September, and beat world No. 1 Ashleigh Barty in the final of the China Open last week.
