British IS fighter wants to stand trial in UK

Alexanda Amon Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh have been taken into US custody

US President Donald Trump said that two Britons, who are accused of being part of an Islamic State (IS) terror group cell which kidnapped and murdered Western hostages, have been taken out of Syria to "a secure location controlled" by Washington, according to reports on Tuesday.

"The Beatles" cell allegedly beheaded Individuals James Foley, Steven Sotloff and Peter Kassig, in addition to different Western hostages, with many others tortured.

The U.S. Justice Department has not announced any charges against the men, and it was not clear when or if they might ever be brought to America for prosecution, though Foley said Attorney General William Barr had privately told her that he wanted to see them face justice.

According to USA media reports, El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Kotey, who are from London, are in the custody of the American military, the BBC reported.

The two men and other British jihadis who made up the alleged ISIS cell that beheaded prisoners were nicknamed "The Beatles" by surviving captives due to their English accents.

Britain has refused to assume responsibility for the two "Beatles", Alexanda Kotey and El Shafee Elsheikh, not wanting to risk domestic turmoil by repatriating them.

Overnight Trump said that he had spoken to the British prime minister, Boris Johnson, on the subject of Isis prisoners, but did not say whether he was referring to Kotey and Elsheikh.

He also thanked the Global Fund for having contributed 1.2 billion dollars towards Zambia's fight against the three diseases. The organization said the programs it has supported since its creation in 2002 have saved 32 million lives.

The militant responsible for Foley's death, Mohammed Emwazi, also known as "Jihadi John", was later killed in a USA airstrike.

He said the decision to remove them from Syria had been taken "in case Kurds or Turkey lose control". "The therapy had to be harsh to set up them within the body of mind" of compliance.

He stated the vital therapy included headlocks, punches and stress positions.

The pair, who were raised in the United Kingdom but have since been stripped of their British citizenship, are among thousands of IS fighters, including others from Britain, who have been held in camps in the region. But he denied any involvement in mock executions or waterboarding.

"I think they have answers to questions they don't necessarily want to volunteer", she said.

That decision had been challenged by Elsheikh's mother, who took her case to the supreme court in London, to prevent the two men being extradited to the USA and instead put on trial in their home country. Both men agreed to talk to The Washington Put up, and Kurdish safety officers facilitated separate interviews at a facility in Rmeilan, Syria. The other, Aine Davis, was caught in Turkey and jailed for seven and half years in 2017, for being a member of a terror organisation.
