Apple's augmented reality glasses to come by mid-2020, report claims

The most reliable Apple analyst in the business Ming-Chi Jup has authored a new report where he lays out Apple's 2020 roadmap. Kuo has apparently confirmed this on a report to the TF International Securities, which is his client. While we've seen images of the new triple camera iPad Pro before, this is the first time the analyst has specifically mentioned the refreshed model will feature a 3D sensor. Apple had been awarded an AR headset patent back in February 2015, and it acquired German AR company Metaio in May that year, which is when the rumors really started rolling. However, it is unclear whether it would be an upgrade for the MacBook Pro range or a new MacBook range altogether.

Kuo has said in the past that Apple plans to market the headset as an iPhone accessory.

That's according to a research note spied by the folks at MacRumors, with Kuo suggesting a new iPad Pro could come in the first quarter of 2020.

Officials Warn About Invasive Snakehead Fish Found in Georgia: 'Kill It Immediately'
Though it's the first confirmed sighting of the species in Georgia, snakeheads have been reported in 14 states. Northern snakeheads can also breathe air and are able to survive on land.

Apple CEO Tim Cook has said he considered AR less isolating compared with VR and as potentially revolutionary as the smartphone. Kuo's sources indicated that the spectacles will pair with the user's iPhone and rely on the device for the bulk of its processing power. The first of these MacBooks is a 16 inch model which we are expecting tot launch this month, other new models will be launched next year.

Shortly after the supposed cancellation, code found in Xcode 11 and iOS 13 confirmed that Apple was still working on an augmented reality headset of some kind, with an icon surfacing that depicted what appeared to be an AR or VR headset that looked similar to the Google Cardboard. It will have an iPhone 8-based design, down to the 4.7” LCD, however it will use the Apple A13 chipset from this year.

A return to the scissor mechanism could well spell a much-needed design change for the MacBook Pro, though Kuo's report doesn't state if this will be a MacBook Pro, Air or otherwise.
