While the worlds of space travel and bioprinting have been intertwined for some time, they are both now colliding with the world of artificially grown meat. Utilizing bovine cells harvested on Earth, scientists grew them into small-scale muscle tissue utilizing a 3D bioprinter beneath managed micro-gravity circumstances. The company focuses on growing cultivated beef steaks or growing an entire piece of real, edible meat from nothing but just a couple of cells. with the help of a Russian company 3D Bioprinting Solutions and two USA -based food companies. However, Aleph's Yoav Reisler told Space.com that the company planned to build on the experiment and make synthetic beef steaks available on terra firma using large-scale "bio-farms".

Researchers said the project was carried out to show how lab-grown meat can be cultivated in tough conditions with minimal resources.

"We are proving that cultivated meat can be produced anytime, anywhere, in any condition", said Didier Toubia, co-founder and chief executive of Aleph Farms, which funded the experiment and provided the equipment and cells.

California wildfire risk prompts planned mass cutoff of PG&E power

Maybe that's why scientists are on the lookout for methods to "grow" actual meat in house-by mimicking the pure technique of muscle tissue regeneration inside an animal's physique. "What is more, creating cultured meat products in space may grant invaluable scientific insights for implementation of this technology on Earth".

The latest method, which requires less resources than traditional animal farming, could potentially be used in future to produce food on long space missions, according to the company.

'This cutting-edge research in some of the most extreme environments imaginable, serves as an essential growth indicator of sustainable food production methods that don't exacerbate land waste, water waste, and pollution, ' the company announced in a press release. "On Earth or up above, we count on innovators like Aleph Farms to take the initiative to provide solutions to some of the world's most pressing problems, such as the climate crisis".

"This keystone of human achievement in space follows Yuri Gagarin's success of becoming the first man to journey into outer space, and Neil Armstrong's 50 anniversary this year, celebrating the moment when the first man walked on space", Toubia said.
