A United Kingdom ticket-holder has won the full £170m Euromillions jackpot, making them Britain's richest ever lottery victor.

If no one had won the jackpot by matching five numbers plus two Lucky Stars, the entire jackpot would have rolled down to the next highest tier, most likely where five numbers and one Lucky star are matched.

It is only the fourth time that the maximum prize has been won since EuroMillions - available in nine European countries including France - fixed its winnings cap in 2012, the French branch FDJ said Tuesday evening.

It with a possibility of multiple millionaires across the entire EuroMillions community.

A Lotto ticket that won €2.5M in Friday's EuroMillions was sold at Supervalu in Donabate. "Three lucky United Kingdom players each won £1.8m".

The winning ticket for Tuesday's draw was sold in the UK.

The numbers for this draw were 4, 5, 14, 15 and 16.

Mr Carter said: "If the jackpot isn't won on Tuesday, it will roll down into the next prize tier where there is at least one victor".

If anyone in the United Kingdom wins the jackpot, they will become Britain's biggest ever lottery victor.

Ade Goodchild landed a £71 million prize in March, while another anonymous ticket-holder bagged £35.2 million in April.
