Jimmy Carter Has Black Eye, Stitches After Fall at Home

Carter turned 95 on Tuesday, becoming the first USA president to reach that milestone.

Former United States President Jimmy Carter fell at home Sunday, Oct. 6, according to The Carter Center.

The 39th president fell earlier in the day at his home in Plains, Georgia, and required the stitches above his brow.

Congileo said Carter and his wife, Rosalynn, who is 92, were eager to be at a Habitat for Humanity build in Nashville, Tennessee. Carter turned 95 on Tuesday, becoming the first US president to reach that milestone.

"We come in Nashville and I fell down and hit my forehead on a sharp edge and I had to go to the hospital, and they took 14 stitches in my forehead and my eyes black as your nose", he said, and then added, "But I had a number one priority and that was to come to Nashville to build houses".

Carter attended the event, sporting a black eye and wearing a plaster.

His wife was again by his side at the building site on Monday, along with husband and wife country music stars Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood; and Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and First Lady Maria Lee. "All of us-from the families they're working alongside in Nashville, to the millions who have been inspired by their good works -owe President and Mrs. Carter our thanks".

In fact, in the three innings he played, he scored just 17 runs at an average of 5.66 and was subsequently left out of the side. The Mirza sisters' family is proud and happy to welcome their second son-in-law, who also hails from cricket background.

Despite being the oldest living president in USA history, Carter bounced back quickly from the fall, refusing to miss an out-of-state charity event.

According to Habitat for Humanity, Carter has been involved in projects that have built, rebuilt or remodeled 4,331 homes.

Carter survived a cancer diagnosis in 2015 and this year surpassed George H W Bush as the longest-lived U.S. president in history.

Meanwhile, he has continued with his humanitarian work. He also survived a grim cancer diagnosis in 2015.

"We have been at war more than 226 years".

Carter also has been accepting visits from several 2020 presidential candidates of late, but he's held back on endorsing any of his fellow Democrats, offering few clues about his thoughts of the campaign.
