Ballerina, a Female-Led John Wick Spin-Off Movie, Gets Director Len Wiseman

39;John Wick' Video Game Lets You Be Keanu Reeves

Shay Hatten, the scribe of Keanu Reeves-starrer John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum, has penned the script. While talking with the Director, they pass lots of ballerinas training in dance and martial arts, and it's strongly implied that once upon a time, John learned his incredible fighting skills in this school. Additionally, a Starz series titled "The Continental", which takes place before the events of the "John Wick" movies, is in the works as well and will be released after "John Wick 4". Details are still sparse, but in the latest film, New York City dancer Unity Phelan is in the credits as Ballerina.

So it comes as little surprise, and I certainly ain't complaining, that "Deadline" have reported today that a spinoff film called The Ballerina which "focuses on a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family", is coming from Lionsgate. It has not been revealed whether John Wick star Keanu Reeves will appear in the spinoff, which follows a female assassin. As of this writing, there's no casting news to share or a projected release date to point towards, but if I were a betting man I'd guess that we'll see Ballerina before we see John Wick: Chapter 4, which Lionsgate is also now working on.

This is the new, weird-looking, Essential Phone
Additionally, the phone is rumored to be controlled mainly through voice commands, with an AI assistant performing numerous tasks. Essential's upcoming phone is shown to have a very tall aspect ratio and a single rear camera housed in a large circular module.

John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum was described by NME's Alex Flood in a review as "a brutal, blood-soaked sequel".

Ballerina will be directed by Len Wiseman, who is best known for launching another female-driven action franchise - the vampire and werewolf action series Underworld, starring Kate Beckinsale. His recent work has seen him direct a number of episodes for different TV series including "Lucifer" and "Swamp Thing".
