Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, unveils clothing line for women's charity

Actress-turned-royal Meghan Markle is diving right back into work after finishing her maternity leave

She launched her fashion collection with her patronage, Smart Works, showing off five pieces she hoped women could wear for an interview or in the office.

Prince Harry's wife attended a reception at a John Lewis department store in London to showcase a collection of workwear and accessories she created with designer and friend Misha Nonoo. The line includes professional attire such as a blazer, tote bag and pants.

The Duchess of Sussex returned to work with a bang on Thursday, choosing to end her maternity leave by carrying out an engagement close to her heart. It starts with Meghan exiting an elevator (just like in the movie 9 to 5!), dressed in the white button-down shirt and pants from the Smart Set, then heading outside to meet with women who have been helped by the charity.

"As women, it is 100 percent our responsibility, I think, to support and up-lift each other". Meghan and Harry will soon be embarking on their first official royal tour as a family along with their son Archie. For every item bought during the sale, which will last for at least two weeks, one will be donated to Smart Works, which helps vulnerable women get back into employment. Meghan said, "nce moving to the United Kingdom, it has been deeply important to me to meet with communities and organisations on the ground doing meaningful work and to try to do whatever I can to help them amplify their impact".

The damning reality of Serena Williams' failed record quest
I wish I could have played better, but if anyone could win this tournament - outside of Venus - I'm happy it's Bianca". She has now lost more grand slam finals over the last three years than she did over a 17-year period prior to 2016.

The duchess was joined on stage by Smart Works staff and clients, who recalled her "really getting stuck in" as a volunteer, putting together outfits and regaling clients with tales of her own first job serving frozen yogurt over the counter in Los Angeles. The duchess, who wore jeans to Wimbledon and is said to have the weekly shop delivered by Ocado rather than Harrods, reminded the audience that nearly exactly a year ago she had launched the Together cookbook with the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen those affected by the Grenfell fire. [It's] to do with a charity she's a patron of called Smart Works.

Meghan's return to work was discussed yesterday on ITV daytime talk show Lorraine, with a royal expert explaining that the collection launch was Meghan getting "back to basics". 'She's really interested in empowering women around the world'.

"A lot of people got to know [Meghan after she started dating Harry], but I knew her before and she's the same chick", Chopra Jonas told The Sunday Times earlier this year.
