North Korea says it's willing to talk with USA, and launches projectile

A man watches a news bulletin showing file footage of a meeting between US President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un at the truce village of Panmunjom at a railway station in Seoul on Sept 10 2019

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un is living up to his "rocket man" nickname, with state-run media on Wednesday saying that the previous day's weapons test had been yet another of a "super-large multiple rocket launcher".

The missile tests also come at a time of increasing friction between Japan and South Korea, two key U.S. allies in the region.

"If the U.S. side fingers again the worn-out scenario which has nothing to do with the new calculation method at the DPRK-U.S. working negotiation to be held with so much effort, the DPRK-U.S. dealings may come to an end", she said, referring to North Korea's official name, the Democratic People's Republic of North Korea.

No further particulars had been promptly available but it was the hottest in a sequence of provocations.

South Korea's military called on the North to "immediately stop" actions that heighten tensions on the Korean peninsula.

Trump has received plaudits and criticisms for his willingness to engage Kim Jong Un directly in three meetings since June a year ago, the first between leaders of two countries that have remained in a technical state of hostilities since the 1950-53 Korean War.

Sixteen bricks of cocaine wash up on Florida beach after Hurricane Dorian
The brick was examined and chose to be a kilo of cocaine, which shall be destroyed, the spokeswoman advised the community. Visible on the outside of the brick is "D-I-A-M-A-N-T". "The contents field-tested positive for cocaine".

"We have willingness to sit with the United States side for extensive discussions of the problems we have so significantly taken up at the time and position to be agreed late in September", Choe Son Hui, the North's vice foreign minister, mentioned in a statement carried on Monday by the formal Korean Central Information Agency.

"If the U.S. side toys with an old scenario that has nothing to do with the new method at working-level talks which would be held after difficulties, a deal between the two sides may come to an end".

Working-level talks to resume? "I always say having meetings is a good thing, not a bad thing". "We give him our best wisdom, we share with him our understanding ... but I don't think that any leader around the world should make any assumption that because some one of us departs that President Trump's foreign policy will change in a material way", Pompeo said. Such a test, which could involve the transporter erector (TEL) launcher seen in accompanying photos, would improve the survivability of the weapon and confound US and South Korean military planners.

There have been suggestions North Korea is shooting projectiles to pressure the US back to the negotiating table over its controversial nuclear program, as the isolated country continues to face worldwide sanctions that are crippling its economy.

Although Trump has given a pass to the North on its shorter-range weapons tests despite a United Nations ban, Tokyo has been outspoken in its condemnation of the launches.

In the past, Bolton has proposed using military force to overthrow the ruling Kim family and USA officials have said Bolton was responsible for the collapse of Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un's second summit in Vietnam in February.
