Mugabe's body believed to be leaving Singapore for Zimbabwe

A auto believed to be carrying the body of Robert Mugabe has left a Singapore funeral parlour.

President Mnangagwa on Tesday met with chiefs from Zvimba, elders and members of the Mugabe family, led by Chief Zvimba, regarding burial arrangements of former President Robert Mugabe.

However, the said burial which is slated for September 15 (Sunday) has been postponed indefinitely according to a family source who spoke with ZimLive.

He died in Singapore last week at the age of 95.

"It just left now", he said by phone from the plane as it took off, with the noise of the aircraft audible in the background.

Relatives and government officials attended a mass for the former leader on Tuesday at the funeral parlour where his body was being preserved following his death on September 6.

Zimbabweans have been divided over how to mourn a former leader once hailed as a liberation hero but who later brutally repressed his opponents.

Rocket blast at US Embassy in Kabul on 9/11 anniversary
Inside the embassy, employees heard this message over the loudspeaker: "An explosion caused by a rocket has occurred on compound". But it has come just a day after the Taliban pledged to retaliate after US President Donald Trump ended the peace talks abruptly.

He dismissed reports that Mugabe had refused to be buried at the Heroes' Acre, but also refused to say where the burial will take place.

He says the family and the chiefs in Zvimba will decide where the former president will be laid to rest.

Zimbabwe's information minister said Mugabe's body will lie in state at two stadiums in Harare for three days.

There, Mugabe hoisted the new Zimbabwe flag and lit the independence flame on April 18, 1980 - bringing hope for a new era after a long guerrilla war.

The Malawi leader is one of several heads of state and former presidents expected to land in Zimbabwe for the funeral on Saturday.

Zimbabwe president, Emmerson Mnangangwa, who seized power from Mugabe in a military coup in November 2017, wants to bury his predecessor next at the National Heroes Acre, a hilltop shrine in Harare.

According to the family spokesperson, Leo Mugabe, there has not been any finality on when and where Robert Mugabe is going to be buried.
