Subscription service for $9.99/month, plus Apple Card and Arcade

Apple finally enters TV streaming space with new Apple TV+ service

Apple Arcade and Google Stadia both still have not named a price.

Then the stars showed up after a dramatic black and white video featuring Ron Howard, Octavia Spencer, Reese Witherspoon, J.J. Abrams, M. Night Shyamalan, Sofia Coppola, Steven Spielberg and Hailee Steinfeld discussed the process of making movies and TV.

It will be an ad-free service. Netflix charges $8.99 to $15.99 a month in the US. Apple getting into original content has been in the news for quite some time now, and with today's launch, that has finally been cemented. It won't have advertising. All the content will be available with a monthly subscription in the Apple News app. The shares fell 1.9%, while Netflix rose 1.2 percent. The difference here is that Apple can be confident of selling millions of each device it launches, but a streaming TV service is much more risky. The on-demand subscription service, which will be available in over 100 countries, will not feature any commercials. The company's gaming subscription service will have 100 new and exclusive games that can be downloaded from a dedicated section in the App Store.

The Mac app will arrive this fall, said Peter Stern, Apple's vice president of services, at an Apple press event Monday.

Later this year if you have an eligible Vizio, Samsung, LG, or Sony smart TV you will be able to "effortlessly play videos and other content" from your iPhone or iPad directly to your TV through AirPlay 2.

Soybean exports help to shrink United States trade deficit in January
The falling price for oil, which hit the lowest point in three years, also helped narrow the trade gap by US$1.4 billion. Statistics Canada said total exports rose 2.9 per cent to $47.6 billion in January, the first increase since July 2018.

Video will be delivered to iPhones and iPads, Apple's own Apple TV device, smart TVs and, soon, streaming gadgets from Roku and Amazon. At present, it is only available on the Apple TV device, and on iOS devices.

At an event announcing the new service Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple TV Plus would be "unlike anything that's been done before". Oprah cited that opportunity on Monday at the event.

According to Apple, it is the "world's first game subscription service for mobile desktop and the living room".

This service is called, logically enough, Apple TV+. Amazon now spends an estimated $5bn on programming each year, while Facebook and Snap are funding shows on a smaller scale.

The app will offer suggestions for shows and movies from more than 150 streaming apps, including Amazon Prime and Hulu, as well as pay-TV services including Charter/Spectrum, Optimum, and Suddenlink/Altice. In fact, Apple TV Channels will provide a better deal than Amazon straight out of the gate. The company also says that they are contributing to the development costs and working closely with creators to bring these games "to life". That will include TV series, movies, and documentaries, the company says.
