'What If' Animated Series Headed to Disney+ Streaming Service

"Spider-man had Joined the Fantastic Four" and ran for 47 issues in its first volume. The latter did find its way over eventually; and with Disney acquiring Fox, the former has become a reality.

That's where What If? comes in.

The comic, called "What If...', was an anthology series examining turning points in Marvel's history, imagining alternate worlds where key characters" lives unfolded differently. More on the report below.

Joining the live-action shows for Loki, Scarlet Witch and Vision, and Falcon and Winter Soldier, it is reported Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios are developing a What If? animated TV series for the upcoming Disney Plus streaming service.

Since the last few months, it has been hinted that the Disney-Fox merger deal was just around the corner, but it kept getting pushed back due to reasons. Where characters could die and be reborn, or take on unfamiliar roles? "Vol.1 #47" which explored the idea of 'What if Loki had found the hammer of Thor?' It's not clear if Marvel Studios will do any direct adaptations or create original "what if?" scenarios for the show. There are multiple Marvel series scheduled to debut on the streaming service but it has yet to launch, and now another show has been announced.

One of the quirkier corners of the Marvel Comicbook universe is the anthology series What If, which allows writers and artists to speculate on alternate universe versions of characters and stories for one-off titles. Most notably, the X-Men and the Fantastic Four could finally become part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, while the likes of Avatar, Alien, and the Predator will also be controlled by Disney. I'd like to see what would happen if they made an episode asking What If Captain America Never Got Frozen or What If Tony Stark Never Made the Iron Man Suit?
