Dolce & Gabbana Facing Backlash From Commerical And Instagram Comments

Dolce and Gabbana causes outrage with ‘racist’ advert

The South China Morning Post published a video showing Gabbana and co-founder Domenico Dolce appealing for their "misunderstanding of Chinese culture" to be forgiven.

"We have always been in love with China", Dolce said in the video. Gabbana has apologized via the same Instagram account, saying, "I love China and the Chinese Culture". We are very sorry for any distress caused by these unauthorised posts, comments and direct messages.

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana - who are founders of the world-famous fashion house that has been making clothes for almost 40 years - have recorded a message in Mandarin to apologise for the firm's recent advertisement that offered instructions on how to eat typical Italian foods with chopsticks.

Gabbana in particular has a history of posting insensitive comments on social media, and came under fire for calling Selena Gomez "ugly" on Instagram in June, and the Kardashian family "the most cheap people in the world" in July.

LinkedIn used 18 million email IDs of non-members for targeted Facebook ads
However, what's still baffling is that how did the company acquire a large number of email addresses of non-LinkedIn users. Unfortunately the strong processes and procedures we have in place were not followed and for that we are sorry.

In the apology video, the two designers wore black long-sleeve shirts, the kind they often wear to runway shows, and sat with their hands folded at a large conference table in a room decorated with formal, red-gilded wallpaper. From the depths of our heart, we apologise. The Italian brand and Gabbana were quick to release an apology stating that the accounts were hacked and that he would never have said such things. The huge reaction forced the company to cancel a fashion show in Shanghai hours before it was due to start last week.

Greater China accounts for a third of global luxury sales and about a third of Dolce & Gabbana's €1.3bn in annual revenues. Chinese pop idol Karry Wang and actress Dilireba, both Asia-Pacific brand ambassadors, have informed the company that they will terminate all cooperation.

Hong Kong-based luxury department store operator Lane Crawford has also joined Chinese retailers in dropping Dolce & Gabbana products after it offended Chinese partners and internet users this week. "With respect to our customers, we have taken the decision to remove the brand from all stores in mainland China, online and in Hong Kong", luxury department store Lane Crawford's president Andrew Keith said in a statement on Friday. A duty-free shop at the Haikou Meilan airport on China's Hainan island announced on social media that it had pulled all the company's products.
