Netanyahu interrogated in corruption case

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday, Israeli media reported.

Police were seen arriving to Netanyahu's residence Monday morning.

Police have questioned Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the second time in a corruption case involving Israel's largest telecommunication company, Bezeq, as he is embroiled in two other cases.

Danny Yatom, who directed Mossad during Netanyahu's first stint in office in the late 1990s, called for his removal and accused him and his aides of "putting their interests ahead of national interests" as corruption investigations deepen.

Case 1000 revolves around alleged illicit gifts given to Netanyahu and his family by different businessmen, most notably the Israeli-born Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan.

The regulations are worth hundreds of millions of dollars to Bezeq, of which Elovitch was, until recently, a major shareholder.

Another Netanyahu confidant, the former director of the Communications Ministry Shlomo Filber also turned state's witness.

Netanyahu denies any wrongdoing and says he is the victim of a "witch-hunt".

In a tweet, Netanyahu said that he was released and would be taking some time to rest.

Though Netanyahu is not a suspect in Case 3,000, police have investigated whether he attempted to facilitate a deal in which close allies lobbied officials to purchase submarines from the German company ThyssenKrupp in a deal that would have personally benefited them financially.

Mass protests were held against corruption in Netanyahu's governmentin 2017.

Police have yet to make a recommendation about charges in the case.

Surveys have shown that about half of Israelis believe the police over Netanyahu and think he should step down, while a third think he should remain in office.
