Dragon Quest XI Gets a Western Release Date on PS4 and PC

What do you think of this news?

Following its Japanese debut last summer, Dragon Quest 11: Echoes of an Elusive Age will arrive in North America and Europe on September 4, 2018. The tweet confirms that there will be a PS4 and PC version, the latter of which will be sold on digital distribution platform Steam. On top of that there is a first-person camera mode that allows players to "take in views of the lovely landscape, character renders, and ferocious monsters in detail".

Next up, the Western release will boast a hard difficulty mode dubbed "Draconian Quest", which will supposedly provide a steeper challenge for more experienced players.

Beginning today, adventurers who pre-order from the PlayStation Store can treat themselves to the exclusive "The Legend Reborn" Theme as an instant reward, along with in-game DLC items when the game launches - check out the following link for more details.

English voice-overs, overhauled UI, and more changes for the west.

It is interesting to note that there's no mention of a Nintendo 3DS version in the tweet or even on the official site. "From a business point of view, it made strategic sense to release the 3DS version in Japan in 2017". It's unfortunate news for Nintendo 3DS owners since they won't be receiving a localized version of the game.

When speaking about the Switch version, Square Enix makes it sound like its a long ways away.

As the press release reads, DRAGON QUEST XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age tells a captivating tale of a hunted hero and is the long-awaited role-playing game from series creator Yuji Horii, character designer Akira Toriyama, and series composer Koichi Sugiyama.
