Two of the people who were approached by a suspect accused of stabbing eight people during an apparent random rampage in Colorado Springs said the man asked them about their faith before attacking.

Police responded to a call about 1:30 a.m. and found two people stabbed.

"Everywhere he was going, he was trying to come in contact with people and he was injuring them", Peterson said.

The victims have been taken to hospitals but police in a statement Monday say that the extent of their injuries was not immediately known. "Or 'No, ' and he was going to hurt me", she said.

All of the victims survived and were taken to hospitals.

The name of the suspect and the charges against him have yet to be released. They have not been identified, but Peterson said most were men, with at least one victim a woman.

"There doesn't appear to be any accomplices".

The officers spread out across the city to search for the suspect, who was reported to have fled to the area of Tejon Street and Boulder Street where he had allegedly stabbed several more people. Peterson said the assailant tried to assault every person he came into contact with.

"I'd really like to thank all the public for assisting us in help catching him, along with medical and FD".

Authorities said the attacks appeared to "be random and there is no known relationship between the suspect and the victims".
