Patrick Reed edged into a three-shot lead at the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas on Thursday as Tiger Woods bounced back into contention after a lacklustre opening round.

US Open champion Woodland's challenge wilted after a disastrous start that saw him four over after four holes, following a bogey on the second, a double-bogey seven on the par-five third and a bogey on the fourth.

However, the day well and truly belonged to Stenson whose last win came at the Wyndham Championship in August 2017.

However, Stenson hit a majestic 5-wood to four inches to match Rahm's eagle at the 15th then closed with three solid pars to seal the deal. That was until Jon Rahm played Nos.

Rahm remains third in the global standings behind Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy.

Some Internationals players have suggested Reed might get some flak from the crowd over the incident but Woods said he thought the famous Australian love of sport would ensure a great atmosphere for the contest.

"I hope the crowd absolutely gives it to not only him, but everyone (on the American team) next week".

Pete Frates, Whose ALS Battle Inspired The ‘Ice Bucket Challenge,’ Has Died
After college, he played professional baseball in Germany and coached young players before returning home to sell insurance. Dozens of research institutions and hundreds of scientists around the world have benefited from the money raised.

The TV cameras picked up the back of Reed's club moving the sand on his practice swings, and he was assessed a two-shot penalty.

"Yeah, you knew coming into [the final round] where Jon and I both were that you're going to have to go shoot a low one because the wind wasn't blowing as hard as it was earlier in the week and because of that, a three or four under par round wasn't going to get it done".

"At the end of the day I wasn't intending to improve a lie or anything like that".

On the back of his penalty under Rule 8.1a, a video surfaced of Reed doing something similar in this event in 2015. Still some ways to go in confidence and when you really feel like you can hit the ideal shots, but I had a lot of solid iron shots and I was sticking it in there close on, I don't know, probably 15 times throughout the week.

Referring to some unsavoury stuff, including the fact he doesn't speak to any members of his family, that surfaced when won The Masters in 2018, he went on: "I've dealt with enough media, I'm pretty good".

"We're going to be locked up in a tin can for 23 hours, so we're just going to enjoy the ride down there and do a little bit of talking, a couple of meetings here and there on the flight so we all have an understanding of what our roles are going to be down there", he said.

Jordan Spieth (16th): There are very things I care about less than I care about how your golf game is three weeks before Christmas, unless your name is Jordan Spieth and you've been grinding for over a year now. I feel like I'm playing to my potential.
