Ukrainian president slams Trump decision to delay military aid

State Dept. undersecretary counters GOP claims Ukraine meddled in 2016

Ukraine's former Deputy Foreign Minister Olena Zerkal - who said she resigned last week to protest Kyiv's diplomacy with both Washington and Moscow - became the first Ukrainian official to publicly acknowledge Ukrainian higher-ups were aware that the USA froze Ukrainian military during the Trump administration's campaign to pressure Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky into investigating President Trump's domestic political rivals, The New York Times reports. He presses Ukraine for investigations into Democrats as USA aid to Ukraine is withheld.

Here's Zelensky's response, according to Time's transcript: "Look, I never talked to the president from the position of a quid pro quo". They point out Ukraine received the security assistance and Trump met with Zelenskiy without the country launching an investigation into the Bidens.

Asked if he was aware of any evidence that Ukraine interfered in the 2016 U.S. election, Under Secretary of State David Hale said, "I'm not". "It's not about a quid pro quo, It just goes without saying".

Mr. Trump later claimed Mr. Zelenskiy had said Mr. Trump had done nothing wrong. We're at war. If you're our strategic partner, then you can't go blocking anything for us.

Throughout his time in office, Zelensky has focused on ending Ukraine's war against Russian Federation and its proxies, who control two separatist areas in eastern Ukraine's Donbas region.

Todd Cantwell restored Norwich's advantage with a smart finish before Aubameyang levelled for a second time from a corner. Despite Krul doing his best to distract Aubameyang the striker calmly angled his kick into the corner.

Trump later tweeted, "The President of Ukraine has just again announced that President Trump has done nothing wrong with respect to Ukraine and our interactions or calls". It was one at the end of the interview, when Zelensky was asked the $300-million question: "When did you first sense that there was a connection between Trump's decision to block military aid to Ukraine this summer and the two investigations that Trump and his allies were asking for?"

"I think both Russian Federation and Ukraine meddled in the 2016 election", Kennedy said.

"I think that Mr. Trump can speak directly", he said. "The President can say that they meddled because they had a preference, the elected officials, that's not the current people".

"When America says, for instance, that Ukraine is a corrupt country, that is the hardest of signals", Zelensky told the magazine. They do. All branches of government were corrupted over many years, and we are working to clean that up. "But that signal from them is very important", Zelensky explained. "But that signal from them is very important". Trump calls the inquiry a partisan "witch hunt" and neither he nor his lawyers have agreed to appear in an inquiry hearing on Wednesday.
