Tulsi Gabbard calls Hillary Clinton the 'embodiment of corruption'

Gabbard has previously said on multiple occasions that she will not run as a third-party candidate should she fail to net the Democratic presidential nomination. "She's a legend. She's going to be in the history books, she's a former nominee of our party, and she just came out against a sitting USA congresswoman, a decorated war veteran, and somebody who's running for the nomination of our party with a complete smear and no facts". But the former first lady said she believed Russian Federation has "got their eye on somebody who is now in the Democratic primary and are grooming her to be the third-party candidate".

While the former first lady and NY senator didn't refer to Gabbard by name, it was clear that she was going after the Hawaii congresswoman, who has had to repeatedly deny accusations of being a Russian asset. "They have a bunch of sites and bots and other ways of supporting her so far", Clinton said, referring to Gabbard before suddenly taking a swing at 2016 Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein. The Senate Intelligence Committee asked Stein for documents as part of its probe into Russian interference in the election because she attended a 2015 dinner in Moscow sponsored by Russian television network RT with Putin.

People in Trump's orbit "know they can't win without a third party candidate", Clinton said.

Though Democrats have often pointed to Stein getting 1 percent of the vote in key states like Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin as a reason Clinton lost those longtime Democratic strongholds, exit polls have shown that most of Stein's voters would not have supported either Clinton or Trump if Stein had not run.

In a scathing tweet thread, Gabbard called Clinton an "embodiment of corruption" and seemed to invite her to join the 2020 nominating contest. Kamala Harris (D-California).

Lady Gaga and fan fall off stage during Las Vegas show

Gabbard's campaign did not respond to TPM's request for comment.

USA media analysis has shown that sites tied to Russian Federation have celebrated Gabbard's campaign launch, defended her controversial 2017 meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, and attacked people who have suggested Gabbard is a pawn for Moscow. She accused members of the media of "championing and cheerleading this regime change war". On the debate stage, Gabbard acknowledged it as a "smear".

"Now we know - it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose", Gabbard said in the third tweet. "They are stirring up a lot of cultural antipathy of the Democratic Party there". "No, I have ruled that out". "I'm going to continue to focus on moving our campaign forward, continuing this grassroots campaign, continuing to deliver our message to the American people".

"It's now clear that this primary is between you and me", Gabbard concluded. "This is reality", Merrill went on. She's not into identity politics.
