Toyota Boosts Battery Warranty, Teases RAV4 Plug

Toyota RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid Spied Testing for the First Time

The only plug-in model Toyota sells today is the Prius Prime, which provides 25 miles of all-electric driving and 54 mpg combined when running in conventional hybrid mode.

Expect to see the RAV4 Plug-in to arrive in Toyota dealerships sometime in 2020.

The RAV4 is said to be already wildly popular for its utilitarian reasons. Evidently, some people are still trepidatious about buying such a vehicle and Toyota will hope to convince those on-the-fence buyers that a hybrid vehicle is the way to go with this new 10-year warranty.

But, just like every other auto maker - and despite a feeling coming from Toyota that plug-in hybrids are not a clever way to go - Toyota has to have a weather eye on upcoming average Carbon dioxide emission regulations which, despite Toyota's hybrid-dominated range, will still be a struggle. The only other brand that offers a longer hybrid battery warranty is Hyundai that offers a lifetime battery warranty for its hybrids and plug-in hybrids.

Rams RB Gurley misses practice with thigh contusion
Injuries have turned the 49ers' NFC West opener Sunday against the Rams in Los Angeles into something of a battle of attrition. McVay said it is "hard to say" if Gurley will be ready for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Toyota Motor Corporation has announced plans to reveal the first plug-in hybrid version of its best-selling vehicle in the United States and some other markets. That title now belongs to the standard all-wheel-drive Rav4 hybrid, which has 219 horsepower and a combined fuel economy rating of 40 mpg.

Per the same report by CNET, the offer will be extended to the Toyota Mirai, which is fired up by a fuel battery cell, and the 2020 Toyota RAV4 Plug-in.

The official unveiling of the PHEV version of the RAV4 will take place on November 20 at the LA show, and we'll know all the important details at that point.
