Rams RB Gurley misses practice with thigh contusion

Clay Matthews #52 of the Los Angeles Rams stands on the sideline during the game against the Cleveland Browns at First Energy Stadium

Injuries have turned the 49ers' NFC West opener Sunday against the Rams in Los Angeles into something of a battle of attrition.

Not so fast, says Rams head coach Sean McVay.

The Rams announced the news on Wednesday, ahead of Sunday's National Football League showdown with the high-flying San Francisco 49ers.

"You feel something during the game and then I guess the adrenaline.", Gurley said Thursday, when asked about suffering the injury. Rookie running back Darrell Henderson is expected to have an expanded role for the Rams. Brown looked impressive in the first two weeks of the season, rushing for 90 yards on just 17 carries, but he has just 24 touches in the three games since.

This is the final Double Tenth Day parade hosted by President Tsai Ing-wen as she is seeking re-election in the next few months. Tsai is now running about 13 points ahead of Kuomintang candidate Han Kuo-yu in Tawian's January presidential election.

It was reported this offseason that Gurley has an "arthritic component" to his left knee, in which he suffered a torn ACL in college.

This comes with Los Angeles set to take on a 49ers defense that ranks fifth against the run and boasts the No. 2 overall unit in the NFL.

McVay said it is "hard to say" if Gurley will be ready for Sunday's game against the 49ers.

Todd Gurley is doubtful and Aqib Talib has already been ruled out as both players came out of last week's loss to the Seahawks banged up.
