Chris Cuomo apologizes for remark at LGBTQ town hall

CNN anchor Chris Cuomo slammed for tone-deaf gender pronoun joke at LGBTQ event

Warren made the quip during an LGBTQ town hall event hosted by CNN on Thursday night.

"Let's say you were on the campaign trail", asked Morgan Cox, of the pro-equality Human Rights Campaign, "and a supporter approaches you and says, 'Senator, I'm old fashioned and my faith teaches me that marriage is between one man and one woman.' What is your response?"

"Then just marry one woman".

"I think the whole foundation (of faith) is the worth of every single human being", she said.

She then took a pause and shrugged before finishing her joke: "Assuming you can find one".

The clip immediately drew posts on Twitter and other platforms, with some commentators pointing to the viral moment and others saying it could show a lack of attentiveness to socially conservative voters who hold sway in some battleground states. While all the candidates were vying to be seen as a champion of LGBTQ rights, according to many people online, Warren came out on top. Videos of Warren's comment was shared tens of thousands of times on social media.

"Elizabeth Warren just hit a home run on how to deal with people who oppose marriage equality", said one user. Kamala Harris onstage in Los Angeles when the 2020 Democratic candidate told him, "My pronouns are she, her, and hers".

Power will be restored to areas once up to 77 mph (124 kph) winds die down and 2,500 miles (4,025 km) of transmission lines could be inspected.

By the time the segment ended, angry tweets were awaiting Cuomo in his Twitter feed.

That wasn't the only awkward moment in CNN's town hall.

Kamala Harris talked about how trans people of color are much more likely to be victims of hate crimes.

The senator from MA then recited the first song she remembers singing: "They are yellow, black and white".

"To me, it's about what I learned in the church I grew up in. Jesus loves all the children of the world, '" Warren addressed onstage after she was questioned about her own faith. "And it is truly about the preciousness of each and every life".

He wrote that he was an ally of the LGBTQ community and is committed to equality.
